Security men suspected to be from the
Department of State Security stormed Unit 9,
Ward 2, located at Abogunde compound, in Ede
North Local Government Area and picked up five
persons for undisclosed reasons.
Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who was waiting to cast
his vote at the same unit, left the polling unit
before the armed security men arrived when
voting was yet to commence.
Adeleke had arrived the polling unit for his
accreditation in the morning on Saturday and
after the exercise, waited to cast his vote.
But information reached him that armed men had
stormed his residence and were looking for him.
Adeleke immediately left the polling unit to an
unknown destination before the arrival of the
security men.
When the security men arrived the unit and
could not find the Former governor, they picked
up five persons they thought were his men.
Adeleke earlier told journalists of his ordeal
when security men in military uniforms attacked
his home in the night.
A party agent representing APC, Olaboye
Adewale, at the unit told our correspondent that
Adeleke heard that his property was being
destroyed by the security men and had to leave.
“I am aware that he left and refused to return
to vote because there might be bloodshed if
they attempt to arrest him in the presence of
his people.
“We do not know where he is and where they
have taken those arrested as we speak,” he said.
