Theresa James, seven-year-old girl died in a Friday morning flood, following a heavy downpour on the Anguwar Yelwa Community in the Chikun local government area of Kaduna State. The flood also destroyed parts of the Anguwar Yelwa Sabo bridge cutting away some parts of the community from the metropolis. Eyewitnesses said the flood which was as a result of two days heavy downpour, washed away houses and caused destruction of yet to be estimated amount of property in the area. A resident of the area, Solomon Daye, 17, told newsmen that they were fast asleep when suddenly they discovered water was rushing into their home. He said, “Before we could jump up the whole place was flooded and within a twinkle of an eye the water got to my shoulders. “There was a neighbor of mine who went to a night vigil and left her four children at home. “Three of the children slept on the bed while the other one slept on the floor and since they’re little children and were unable to escape the flood. “In the morning when the rain subsided, we discovered that the flood raised the three children who were on the bed while James who was sleeping on the floor died as she could not escape.
