Theresa James, seven-year-old girl died in a Friday
morning flood, following a heavy downpour on the
Anguwar Yelwa Community in the Chikun local
government area of Kaduna State.
The flood also destroyed parts of the Anguwar Yelwa
Sabo bridge cutting away some parts of the
community from the metropolis.
Eyewitnesses said the flood which was as a result of
two days heavy downpour, washed away houses and
caused destruction of yet to be estimated amount of
property in the area.
A resident of the area, Solomon Daye, 17, told
newsmen that they were fast asleep when suddenly
they discovered water was rushing into their home.
He said, “Before we could jump up the whole place
was flooded and within a twinkle of an eye the water
got to my shoulders.
“There was a neighbor of mine who went to a night
vigil and left her four children at home.
“Three of the children slept on the bed while the
other one slept on the floor and since they’re little
children and were unable to escape the flood.
“In the morning when the rain subsided, we
discovered that the flood raised the three children
who were on the bed while James who was sleeping
on the floor died as she could not escape.
